No. The daily prayer, your streak, and the home screen widget all work without one. Signing in is only needed for prayer circles, because a circle needs to know who you are to show your requests to the right people.
Go to Prayer Requests, sign in, then open the circle menu at the top right and choose Start a Circle. You will get a six-character invite code and a link you can send to anyone.
Tap the invite link someone sent you, or open the circle menu and choose Join with a Code and type the six characters.
Open the Account tab and edit Your Name. It is what your circles see, including on the prayer requests you send. If you signed in with Apple's Hide My Email, no name is shared with us, so you will show as "Member" until you set one.
Circle menu → Mute Requests silences one circle without leaving it. You can also turn Pray Diem's notifications off entirely in the iOS Settings app.
Circle menu → Members → Leave Circle. If you started the circle, it passes to whoever joined first, or is deleted if you were the only member.
Open the Account tab and tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, your name, your prayer requests, and your saved streak.
Streaks are saved to your account, so sign in and fully close and reopen the app. The days come back on the next launch. Days you prayed while signed out were only ever on that device, and cannot be recovered once the app is deleted.
Touch and hold your home screen, tap Edit, then Add Widget, and search for Pray Diem.
